Download Z-Way for RaZberry

First installation when Raspberry is already up und running

To download Z-Way for your RaZberry, login to your Rapsberry Pi box execute the following command:

wget -q -O - | sudo bash

First installation on a virgin Raspberry

Download the complete SD Card image including Z-Wave control software and various other tools from 

To prepare the SD Card please refer to the guidance on After including the SD card a plug in in the Z-Wave daughter card power up the raspberry pi. After about 1 minute open a web browser and point to  Below the login screen you will see the IP address of your RaZberry system. Click on the IP address link to open the configuration dialog.

The configuration service is accessible with a web browser on port 8084. Whenever you want to change settings this service will be at your service and is available independent of the Z-Wave engine

  1. Find your RaZberry ID. You need to remember this ID. It is needed for the remote access to you system.
  2. Choose a password that will be used to authenticate for remote access in the future. Whenever you access your RaZberry within your local network (as the first time) you will not need a password.

Upgrade to the latest version

To upgrade Z-Way to the latest version you just need to login to your Raspberry Pi box and execute the very same command you have used to install RaZberry: 

wget -q -O - | sudo bash

Install specific version

You can specify exact version of Z-Way to install by adding version /vx.y.z after install word: 

wget -q -O - | sudo bash

This also allows to install release candidates (rc) versions like v2.0.0-rc1.

Valid release versions can be found in the ChangLog.

Supported Linux distribution

Z-Way for RaZberry is supported on Raspbian distribution for Raspberry Pi computer. Although it can be launched on other Raspberry Pi distributions too.

Z-Way can also run on Ubuntu x64, Debian x64 and Debian x86. Check latest version.

Minor change in the API:

Important API changes:
 - loadJSON function added to API to allow load a file from program folder.
 - Command Class SensorBinary data tree has changed. Now it contains sensor types like SensorMultilevel.
 - SwitchMultilevel commands SetWithDuration and StartLevelChangeWithDuration are removed (Set and StartLevelChange should be used). 
 - SwitchMultilevel Set/StartLevelChange are always with duration in C.
 - New ChildCreated event on dataholder added to trap new child node cration.
 - New JavaScript methods: fs.list(dir) and fs.stat(file).

 - ThermostatSetPoint, SensorMultilevel, Meter UserCode improved, some minor problems fixed.
 - Full RF power during inclusion/exclusion is restored.
 - Thermostat temperature C/F conversion fixed (mostly for US products)

Other features:
 - New V8 engine is used for better stability and performance. The code was reworked a lot to become faster and more stable.
 - Better logging with log levels (check config.xml).

NB! You need to force interview for all devices with SensorBinary and SensorMultilevel Command Classes.
Go to Device Configuration tab, toggle Expert mode (bottom right corner) and press Force Interview under Advanced actions cut link.

NB! After backup & restore process it is recommended to re-install Z-Way (using same command as to install it).
Otherwise it might not run next time after restore. (due to old config/Defaults.xml comming from old package).
